Steve Combs & The Pardos - "Vanity Fair"
VANITY FAIR is a split compilation album by instrumental artist Steve Combs and folk-punk duo The Pardos. Combs offers five acoustic songs from his oeuvre of over 200, and The Pardos, fresh off of the release of their first album, For the People, offer songs from that release, as well as earlier works. Despite their different styles, the artists' shared folk influences tie this album together thematically in a unique way. Steve Combs is an instrumental artist from New York's Hudson Valley. His instrumental and electronic compositions have found great success in the world of free-use music. Combs' liberally-licensed work has been used in videos for MIT, Harvard, FEMA, and The Atlantic, as well as in apps, crowdfunding campaigns, and hundreds of YouTube videos. His song "Brand New Record!" is currently the theme music for the Financial Times news podcast. His music is available for free download from stevecombsmusic.bandcamp.comThe Pardos are a Queens, NY-based folk-punk duo consisting of Adam Rudy (vocals, guitar, ukulele) and Ben Schiery (vocals, accordion). Taking their name from legendary TV announcer Don Pardo and incorporating influences from alternative rock like They Might Be Giants, modern folk acts like Beirut, and pop punk like Green Day, The Pardos write songs about a diverse array of topics both comedic to tragic.
